Meet Rachel Librach
Candidate for El Dorado County Office of Education Area 1
My name is Rachel Librach and I am running for the El Dorado County Office of Education Area 1. I’ve lived in El Dorado Hills, specifically District 1, since 2009 when my family and I moved here from the Sacramento area. I grew up attending private school and it wasn’t until our move to El Dorado Hills that I entered my first public school – Rolling Hills Middle School. There was certainly an initial shock going from a tight-knit class of 15 to 20 students, to a class of over 50! But I quickly settled in and made some life long friendships.
In Oak Ridge High School, I only continued to excel in not only my studies, but also my social and community involvement. I was Captain of the Girl’s Varsity Tennis Team, AP Student, and volunteered at numerous Hands for Hope events and All About Equine Animal Rescue.
I graduated from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in 2018, earning a Bachelor Innovation (BI) Degree; UCCS is the only university in the nation to offer this BI degree to undergraduates. In the Business Innovation courses, we worked in teams and consulted with local start-up companies to identify their deficiencies and work together to formulate innovative solutions.
During my time in college, I also worked as the school newspaper’s Culture Editor and Journalist. Over the course of 4 years, I honed my skills for investigative journalism, learning that while it’s important to keep an open mind and listen to both sides of a position, it’s just as important to balance arguments with factual data and statistics.
Real Estate Broker, Female Entrepreneur, and Co-Owner of Two Businesses
After college, I returned to El Dorado Hills where I obtained my Real Estate Broker’s license, co-own a Real Estate Brokerage and Property Management company, and get to spend every day doing what I love: listening to my clients, thinking of ways outside the box to accomplish their goals, exceeding expectations, and delivering results.
I love living in El Dorado Hills and giving back to my community. Working as a businesswoman, I have had to adapt and overcome obstacles to keep up with an ever changing industry, be persistent and patient when setbacks occur, and innovate solutions to achieve my goals.
Over the years, I’ve seen the El Dorado Hills community change and grow in many ways. What concerns me today is the direction schools are being pushed across the nation, and now, here at home. I’m afraid that we may be losing the quality of education that I was privileged to receive.
Why I’m Running for Office
El Dorado County Office of Education Board (EDCOE) proudly pioneered school choice opening the first County Office of Education charter school in the state. Recently, teacher unions have openly opposed local charter schools because they present an alternative school choice.
While enabling healthy competition, I encourage parents’ power to choose a school that better aligns with their values or learning needs for their children. This synergy drives innovation and academic excellence, benefiting charter and public schools as well as the student.
Today’s legislation is aiming to drive a wedge between parents and their children, making them vulnerable to outside influence, alienating children from their families and introducing them to sensitive subjects outside of parents’ knowledge and oversight.
I am asking for your support because I believe that what is so special and precious in our schools deserves to be fought for so future generations can benefit and succeed through the system, limited only by their ambition.
Serving on the EDCOE Board, I will be your VOICE for freedom of school choice. If elected, I commit to full transparency for parents, classrooms’ focus on core academics, upholding our community values, and the priority of every student’s learning needs. Let’s make our schools an institution we can continue to be proud of, be the light that sparks our children’s futures, and let’s make our classrooms a great learning place for all students!
Your VOICE for school CHOICE!
