Why School Choice Drives Academic Innovation
School choice is about more than just giving parents the right to choose the best school for their child—it’s also a powerful driver of academic innovation. When families have options, schools are motivated to compete, to innovate, and to offer the best possible educational experience. Competition fosters creativity, encourages new approaches, and leads to improved outcomes for students across the board.
I’m Rachel Librach, and I am committed to ensuring that school choice remains a priority in El Dorado County. I believe that when parents have the power to choose, it pushes schools to continuously improve and evolve. Schools that are forced to compete for students are more likely to develop innovative teaching methods, invest in new technologies, and create programs that better meet the needs of diverse learners.
School choice also helps ensure that students have access to the educational environment that works best for them. Whether a child excels in a traditional classroom, benefits from a smaller setting, or needs specialized instruction, school choice allows families to find the right fit. This flexibility leads to better academic outcomes, higher levels of student engagement, and a more personalized learning experience.
If elected to the El Dorado County Office of Education Board, I will work to expand school choice and encourage academic innovation across our district. I will advocate for policies that give families more options, while also supporting schools in their efforts to develop new programs and approaches that meet the needs of today’s students.
